Humility is about how we posture ourselves…
Proverbs 12:15 (NASB)
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
True Leaders are willing to speak the truth in love. Even when it is unpopular.
There have been several times when leaders have challenged my inflated ego to keep me grounded in reality. Pride is the original sin. Most leaders who are worth their weight in the kingdom, have allowed or at least endured their flesh and their egos being put through the fire.
We all need those people in our lives who will speak truth to us when we need it the most. Those who will confront our folly.
I thank God for leaders who have helped to save me from myself. I count it a blessing now though I sometimes pushed it away in my youth. Insecurity and fear of rejection can keep you second-guessing the ones who have loving counsel to give. I have grown to value and even cherish counsel from those who are assigned to secure my path.
Romans 12:3 (TPT)
3 God has given me grace to speak a warning about pride. I would ask each of you to be emptied of self-promotion and not create a false image of your importance. Instead, honestly assess your worth by using your God-given faith as the standard of measurement, and then you will see your true value with an appropriate self-esteem.
I cannot remember one time in my life when I thought promotion came in time accurately. I always thought I was qualified long before I actually was.
Laying hold of revelation is not in any way the same as having the character to steward that revelation in the earth.
The Kingdom is about relationships. Who we receive in our lives can determine how we reach our destination.
Matthew 10:40-41 (NASB)
The Reward of Service
40 “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
Who is in your life that you receive who challenges your status quo?
Have you postured yourself in a way that leaders have the liberty to speak truth into you?
